Not Her World
He taught her to be grateful for being allowed to exist in his shadow,
Belittled and demeaned her heart would scream bound in wallow,
Her faith in herself was all spent,
For her love she remained, for his love she bent,
He was an abyss that would consume her, yet she stayed,
Spare my dignity she prayed, while on her soul, guilt weighed,
Not a hand to help her out could she find,
Tired she told herself, live with the hell of your design.
Loyalty and love were not his chime,
She stopped being his muse in less than no time,
Tossing her aside took him not a second thought,
She found bound to him her heart still must ought,
Forced to pick up pieces of her own shattered self,
Her hopes and dreams were destined to catch dust up on the shelf,
Came to her own with rebukes, insults and laughter at her expense,
For her pain the world had no acceptance,
To convince them she had no defense,
It must have been, her, she was always wayward and vile,
“He’d do so much for her you know,” they said, they never once saw her smile,
Barely had she been set free, she became to bear sore,
Branded by a scarlet A, they made sure her innocence was no more,
Her heart was still weeping, her soul reeling,
She did everything right, what was this pain she was feeling,
He tossed her aside, without a second glance,
Go live your life, I set you free, this is your chance,
Amused by her unfortunate plight, her soul steeled with rage,
Must she suffer in silence even in this age?
Understanding a blatant tragedy, is impossible for this world’s blind fools,
The society runs the world like their backdoor schools,
Convenient it is having her be the subject of gossip and amusement,
Put her up on a stake, and let at her out all your resentment,
Comfort and faith to her would never come by,
Words of support, what a joke, a handkerchief to dry her tears was a far cry,
Pick up your pieces, prosper, come on woman, at least try,
Go on little birdie, off the cliff you go, teach yourself to fly.
By,
Gunjan Bhatnagar, her heart aglow with flickering flames of hope.
